  • Drastic temperature changes (from the refrigerator to the hot oven) may cause cracking. Room temperature to cool oven is best. Allow pottery to cool before placing in refrigerator or dishwasher.
  • Do not broil or place on a stovetop burner. Do not store in freezer.
  • Pottery can scratch furniture & cause water stains if placed directly on furniture surface. Use cork tabs or felt on the base of the pottery and/or a trivet or tablecloth to protect furniture.
  • Do not leave pottery outdoors in winter – temperature fluctuations can crack pottery.
  • Low quality cutlery can mark pottery; remove marks with a kitchen abrasive, like Bar Keeper’s Friend. High quality steel cutlery will not mark the pottery.
  • Handcrafted pottery has slight variations in size, color & design, characteristics to be expected and treasured in handcrafted art.
  • And yes, pottery will break if dropped!

  1. Beautiful lamp. It arrived in a timely manor and in perfect condition. Would definitely purchase from Emerson Creek Pottery again.

    • We’re so happy that you’re happy with your new lamp, Barbara. Thanks for the great feedback!

  2. We purchased two large lamps from you at least 25 years ago and broke one recently. So we thought we would replace them with a matching pair, purchased last month. We were quite disappointed that the new floral glaze doesn’t extend nearly as high on the lamp body as it used to. I suppose this is a cost cutting measure on your part, but the appearance isn’t as nice. Other than that, we like the lamps.

    • We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the glaze on your new lamps, Jeffrey. While many of our designs stay the same, some of them evolve slightly over time – whether that’s due to customer suggestions, or the team at Emerson Creek Pottery seeing opportunity for improvement by making an alteration, or the change may be due our different decorators having their own personalized style. We do hope you like the lamps and enjoy them for years to come!

  3. We absolutely love our new lamp. We had two Poppy lamps but one was accidentally broken. It’s wonderful to know that we can count on Emerson Creek to keep their products consistently beautiful. No one would ever know the replacement was bought a couple of years after the original one. Everything we have put from you folks has been beautiful and of the highest quality.

    • Karen – thanks for your kind review and for noticing our commitment to keeping our hand-painted designs the same year after year.
