Meet Our People
Master potters, artisans and valued customer service staff make up the Emerson Creek Pottery
family. The majority of our people have been with us for a decade or more and the skills of
each member enable our pottery to run smoothly each day, producing pieces that have served
in homes across America since 1977.

Doug - Jack of all trades and master of a bit of everything. Doug
has been with the pottery for over 10 years doing everything from inventing
and building equipment, doing all of our maintance to glazing to mixing and
pugging clay.

Melinda - Melinda she went to Longwood University in Farmville,
majored in drawing and printmaking. She enjoys drawing and hiking
the Blue Ridge with her husband and dog.

Betty-Sue Betty-Sue is shown here casting. She has been with
Emerson Creek Pottery since 1992, doing most everything in the studio.

Lynn - Lynn is shown here making dinner plates. She’s raised five kids while working at Emerson Creek Pottery,
casting, doing finishing work, and running the ram press.

Christie - Christie is shown here loading our kiln.
Over the last 14 years, she’s mastered every job in the plant. She’s our pottery studio
manager in charge of keeping everything scheduled and running smoothly.

Kathleen - After raising four children and years of office
work Kathleen decided to join the Emerson Creek family and pursue her
love of painting. The Virginia landscape is a constant source of inspiration
and has found its way on to the pottery.

Kim - Kim is a freelance artist blessed with a wonderful family,
who has done murals, oil paintings and more. She has a communication
degree from Va. Western Community College and is currently working
on a Bachelors degree from Hollins University.

Laurel -
When you call or email with orders or questions; you’ll be talking to Laurel.
She handles all of our customer service and front office work.
